- Help for !FreeFTP
- -----------------
-
- Using !FreeFTP for the first time
- ---------------------------------
- Before you use !FreeFTP for the first time you will need to set up certain
- options such as your e-mail address. To do this run !FreeFTP and choose
- Configure from the iconbar menu. This will open the configuration window
- where you need to set up your e-mail address. There is also a BatchFTP file
- location. This is only for demon users and will be fully explained later. You
- may also change the options "Small icons" and "Allow uploads".
-
- Connecting to a site
- --------------------
- To connect to an FTP site you simply need to click select on it from the main
- window available by pressing select on the iconbar icon. When you click on
- the site a new window will appear and you will be connected to the FTP site
-
- Navigating around the FTP site
- ------------------------------
- To change to a directory simply double click on it. To move to the parent
- directory click on the up arrow in the status window or adj-click on the
- close icon of the window.
-
- To download a file simply drag the file into a filer window and it will be
- downloaded. To upload a file drag it into the main FTP display. You will be
- prompted for a name to give to the uploaded file and it will then be
- uploaded.
-
- To rename a file select it and choose from the main menu "Selection>Rename>".
- In the writable menu icon type the name you wish to rename to and press
- return. The file will be renamed.
-
- To create a directory simply type its name in the writable menu off the main
- menu and it will be created.
-
- Using the BatchFTP option
- -------------------------
-
- BatchFTP is a service available only to demon customers. It allows you to
- request via email a file on a remote host to be ftp'd to a home directory on
- demon's ftp server. You can then download it from this directory. To do this
- you send a mail message to ftp@demon.net with a list of files you want.
- !FreeFTP helps to compile this list of files for you. If you select files
- from the main window and choose BatchFTP off the selection menu in the main
- window, then the files will be added to your BatchFTP list in the directory
- specified in the configure window.
-
- More information on batch FTP can be found on the Demon FTP site in
- /pub/demon/doc/Batchftp.txt
