  4. Using !FreeFTP for the first time
  5. ---------------------------------
  6. Before you use !FreeFTP for the first time you will need to set up certain
  7. options such as your e-mail address. To do this run !FreeFTP and choose
  8. Configure from the iconbar menu. This will open the configuration window
  9. where you need to set up your e-mail address. There is also a BatchFTP file
  10. location. This is only for demon users and will be fully explained later. You
  11. may also change the options "Small icons" and "Allow uploads".

  13. Connecting to a site
  14. --------------------
  15. To connect to an FTP site you simply need to click select on it from the main
  16. window available by pressing select on the iconbar icon. When you click on
  17. the site a new window will appear and you will be connected to the FTP site
  18.  
  19. Navigating around the FTP site
  20. ------------------------------
  21. To change to a directory simply double click on it. To move to the parent
  22. directory click on the up arrow in the status window or adj-click on the
  23. close icon of the window.

  25. To download a file simply drag the file into a filer window and it will be
  26. downloaded. To upload a file drag it into the main FTP display. You will be
  27. prompted for a name to give to the uploaded file and it will then be
  28. uploaded.

  30. To rename a file select it and choose from the main menu "Selection>Rename>".
  31. In the writable menu icon type the name you wish to rename to and press
  32. return. The file will be renamed.

  34. To create a directory simply type its name in the writable menu off the main
  35. menu and it will be created.

  37. Using the BatchFTP option
  38. -------------------------

  40. BatchFTP is a service available only to demon customers. It allows you to
  41. request via email a file on a remote host to be ftp'd to a home directory on
  42. demon's ftp server.  You can then download it from this directory. To do this
  43. you send a mail message to ftp@demon.net with a list of files you want.
  44. !FreeFTP helps to compile this list of files for you. If you select files
  45. from the main window and choose BatchFTP off the selection menu in the main
  46. window, then the files will be added to your BatchFTP list in the directory
  47. specified in the configure window.
